Early Christmas present from Paul White
From Monday 23rd November One-Handed Music releases the first of a two-
part free digital download of Paul White’s Sounds From The Skylight. The
album-length beat tape of woozy and wonderful new material is named in
honour of Paul’s South London attic studio, and is also available on vinyl.
Armed with a sound described as “Madlib and J Dilla meets Boards Of Canada”
(Mixmag), and praised as someone who “embodies all that is good about a new
generation of producers” (Dazed & Confused), Paul White has already won over
fans of interesting hip-hop, bass-heavy beats and left-leaning sounds including
Mary Anne Hobbs, Benji B, Gilles Peterson and Diplo.
Sounds From The Skylight presents intrigued outsiders with the opportunity to
check out Paul’s music for themselves – and is an early Christmas gift for
existing fans. To download Side A, go to www.tinyurl.com/PaulWhiteSFTS
click on ‘Download Album’ and select your file quality. A link will be emailed to
you and the second B-side instalment will hit inboxes on 30th November. The
fully mastered digital version comes as high-quality lossless formats or MP3 files
and will be available until Christmas. The vinyl release of the entire album is
available now from One-Handed Music alongside the free download and lands in
various stores very soon including Boomkat, Sounds Of The Universe and Bleep.
Paul White’s debut album, The Strange Dreams Of Paul White – a magic carpet
ride of crate-digging psychedelia – surfaced earlier this year. The prolific
producer’s next album proper, Paul White And The Purple Brain, will be released
in Spring 2010 by Stones Throw’s sister label Now-Again in conjunction with
One-Handed Music.
