James Edson’s Top 10 Skateboarding Photos of All Time

Uncategorized

Skateboarding and photography are two things that go hand in hand. Over the years skateboarding magazines have produced some amazing photographs of these chaps doing unbelievable things their boards (and I don’t mean anything involving lube or condoms. I mean tricks…). James Edson is a skater, very talented photographer and member of  London skate crew Palace Waywards. We asked him to give us a run down of his top 10 favourite sketeboarding pictures of all time. He happily agreed and sent them over to us today saying “its quite hard to talk about skating at length without sounding like a twat…” But he’s given us an idea of why he likes them, and that fine by us…

1. Danny Brady – Doing a really high crook on a really tall ledge. The photo says it all really. Quite dangerous…

2. Ethan Fowler – A high ollie on the notoriously difficult to skate china banks in s.f… Rad as fuck.

3. Fred Gall - Pulling in from noseblunt into a big steep bank.photo says it all really.

4.Gino Ianucci – Nollie 270 backtail. Way ahead of his time and making it look smooth and clean too.

5. Kareem Campbell - Massive kickflip down a double set. Kareem is not so known for skating massive stairs etc so i love this photo cos it is exactly that.

6.Mike Carroll - Doing a styley nose wheelie. Sums up the e.m.b. days perfectly.

7. Ricky Oyola - Wall riding a window on a Nicotine wheels ad. It’s a sick photo taken from the other side of the glass. About as street as it gets really.

8. Quim Cardona - Doing a sick backtail with amazing shapes…

9. Stevie Williams – Doing a switch back heel over a bin in Love Park. It sums up the whole Love Park thing; skating flat ground and street obstacles… Flavoursome.

10. Carl Shipman - Front blunt down hubba hideout. Shipman is one of my favorite skaters ever and this trick was a big deal at the time. Fucking sick.
