Marek Mykowski
Marek Wykowski was born in Krakow, Poland, thirty something years ago. He has been photographing the world since 2005. He is currently working on what he calls his first body of work called “Silesian ballad“. Marek explains this project as “a documentary project about the Upper Silesia, an industrialised area in southern Poland. I treat this project as an exercise in observing and contemplating the world around us, but at the moment it’s not much more than just a photographic document of the region.” The idea for his next work is, in his words, “growing slowly in my mind… I would like to capture the forces that drive different European nations and make them live like they live today. My short term goal is to overcome my laziness and make a website to host my images. Photographing taught me some things about people, some things about me and how to put a film on a roll. Currently I am at the stage of fighting my inner struggle between what I want to photograph and what people want to view. I have lost the first battle to sycophants but I am regrouping my forces and will strike back…”
