Courtney Mc by Michael Mayren

Since 24-year-old Courtney Mc only graduated in 2010, if she were flouncing around London, signed on the dole and trying to get noticed, few would bat an eyelid. As it turns out, however, this particular young designer has been a very busy girl. Barely out of uni, Givenchy’s creative director Riccardo Tisci was quick off the mark to hand her a job, and combined with the attention her own line has received, it’s safe to say Miss. Mc has got her fingers in all the right pies.

Her most recent collection, “The Brother Line” has been hitting all the right spots, and has been featured in publications like Vice and i-D alongside other up-and-comers such as Katie Eary and Agi and Sam. The collection incorporates council estate chav-chic in the form of Burberry-esque prints, Adidas sportswear and altered Stella Artois logos with an underlying edge reminiscent of the punk era, demonstrated through Staffordshire Bull Terrier illustrations and collared jackets.

Photographer, stylist and all-round genius, Michael Mayren, shot the look book, the highlights of which are pictured below. Portraying the garments in gritty stills on the backs of scowling youths amplifies the British working class theme which courses throughout each look, and is a flawless depiction of the line.
