Elzhi, one half of Slum Village and arguably one of the best rappers walking the earth, released a mixtape last month interpreting Nas’ classic 1994 debut ‘Illmatic’. The tape, entitled ‘eLmatic’ (clever), is produced by Will Sessions, and features live instrumentation & El’s take on all 10 tracks off the original. Every flow and cadence is aped with expert precision, so much that you might catch yourself forgetting they’re covers.
