This Thursday night sees a solo show from London based artist and longtime friend of Sweet and Sound, Daniel David Freeman. This show explores the life of fictional character, Rick Azalea. ‘Azalea’s Amazons’ is an exploration of the character’s inner most fantasies. Using the humble mediums of felt tip pen and paper, the artists invites the viewer to engage with a range of abstract and extraordinary characters who live only in the realm of Azalea’s imagination.
The gallery space will replicate the protagonist’s bedroom. Showcasing where Rick Azalea worked, lived and loved his many amazonian lovers. Accompanying the instalation will be a biographical piece of creative writing outlining Azalea’s many trials and tribulations.
This show marks a departure from line based digital work for Daniel David Freeman, who has worked with clients including Adidas, Nike, Dazed, Vice, I-d, Protein, Blink, Mixpak, Jaguar Shoes and Boiler Room. Freeman also provides illustration for cult DJ collective GETME! as well as designing his own T-Shirt label, Ranks, which is sold internationally online and in-store at the Hideout.
