How long have you been running the blog and what made you start it up?
My tumblr has been up for more than a year. I was looking for a simple platform to show my work, but didn’t have time to do a website. It was supposed to be a temporary fix, but guess it stayed.
Are there any photographers whose work is inspiring you at the moment?
David Brandon Geeting (ed. who we also featured last summer – you can check it here) has been producing amazing work lately. It’s been a pleasure seeing his work evolve. Big cheer up for embracing digital like he’s doing.
Came across Sarah Pickering’s ‘Fire Scene’ series the other day, truly beautiful settings that reminded me of Thomas Demand, whose work I also admire. Not sure if it’s a stretch linking that series with Demand’s work, but it made sense in my head.
A huge influence this past year, and still ongoing, is Lars Tunbjork. Last summer I had the pleasure to flick through his book “Office / Kontor“. No words to describe how mindblowing it was, his sense of humour is one of the finest I’ve seen. This is nothing major, but his report of Iowa Caucus was a treat to look at.
What are 2 tumblr blogs that you follow and why?
Alex Howard, Ben Seeley and Christopher Schreck. I learn so much from their references, they are my unofficial guide to photography. It’s also satisfying to go through their blogs because I can see what they post relating to the work each of them produce. Honesty above all, that’s how they stand out from the tumblr sea.
Name your top 3 artists on your itunes this week.
Conway Twitty, Robyn, Feist
Have you been reading any interesting books/ magazines?
Just read an interview with Yang Fudong on Bomb magazine.
Aside from the blog, what else are you up to at the moment?
I’m preparing my first solo exhibition happening in March. More details coming very soon!
