Early Christmas present from Paul White

From Monday 23rd November One-Handed Music releases the first of a two- part free digital download of Paul White’s Sounds From The Skylight. The album-length beat tape of woozy and wonderful new material is named in honour of Paul’s South London attic studio, and is also available on vinyl.

Pogflipper

Alex Ruffles AKA Pogflipper was born in Birmingham, grew up in the 90’s and was heavily influenced by the music of this time. He makes floaty off-beat textual hip hop and says "I can’t get enough of making beats like that at the moment. I think its’ got way more depth than conventional hip hop and it opens your mind and doors to other types of musical expressions." Alex's plans for the future are keep producing whenever possible, work towards collaborations with good artists and to keep sharing his music with people in every way possible.

I Love Space Funk

When people ask me what music I like I usually reply, ‘everything’, then I proceed to list off a few genres; ‘Jazz, Dub, Soul, Old School Hip Hop’, in an attempt to sound like I know what I’m talking about. But what I really, really want to say in this situation is I like ‘Space Music’ or more specifically ‘Space Funk’. But I can’t because unless you listen to exactly the same music as me you will have no idea what I am talking about and probably think I’m a bit weird. ‘Space Funk’ is a genre entirely of my own conception but most of my favorite tunes seem to fit into the category. In the course of this article I will attempt to define ‘Space Funk’ and what musicians and songs fit in to my made up genre.

Xrabit

A new collective has landed in the hip-hop world and they sound alternatively dope, catchy and stylish. XRABIT is a producer from Dalston, East London and the subject of this interview. XRABIT isn’t making beats that attempt to imitate the big names or recreate the style of other hip-hop sub genres, he’s doing his own thing and the people he works with are original too. XRABIT drops beats for Damaged Goods (aka DMG$), a duo of rappers from the Dirty South USA and are signed to Big Dada.
